Perspective: The tranformation of construction industry

11.05.2024 | Peiner Träger GmbH

This week, our Head of Technical Customer Services, Marcus Lippe, visited the Austrian steel construction company Unger Stahlbau Ges.m.b.H. together with our sales expert, Oliver Klaus, the Managing Director at Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlhandel Austria GmbH, Christian Goronczy, and the team leader for construction/steel construction, Sebastian Hasselberg.

In addition to the presentation of our new department for sustainable construction and the strategic direction of PTG, intensive discussions centred on the future of steel construction and the upcoming challenges in the construction industry. "Sustainability is playing an increasingly important role in the entire construction industry and our customers’ awareness of the need for the construction transition is growing. We also want to make our contribution to a climate-friendly future and are already offering our customers innovative solutions for CO2-reduced construction," emphasised Bernd Mühl, authorised officer and Head of Division Steel at Unger.

Marcus Lippe sees low emissions and recyclability as the future viability of steel as a building material and emphasises the urgency of promoting sustainable practices throughout the industry: "The transformation of the construction sector can only succeed if everyone involved pursues the same goal – to drastically reduce emissions in construction. I am therefore delighted to have been invited to share ideas and to realise that, with Unger, we have a strong partner for the green transformation of the construction industry in Austria."

Christian Goronczy works closely with both companies. For him, the focus is also on working together as partners: "A shared commitment to sustainability forms the basis for a successful future. Only together can we bring about successful change."

During the factory tour, the guests gained interesting insights into production at Unger Ges.m.b.H. Oliver Klaus is enthusiastic about the "green" orientation of the steel construction company: "Today I saw an ultra-modern steel construction production with sustainability in practice. The utilisation of photovoltaics, the use of electric vehicles and the careful procurement of building materials show that Unger has already embarked on a future-oriented path."
