Our SALCOS® steel slab for the Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH product portfolio

The SALCOS® Structural Steel is produced using green electricity via the low-emission electric furnace route, with the resulting slabs supplied to Salzgitter Flachstahl. These materials serve as the basis for the production of hot-rolled and cold-rolled flat steel products, which are utilized in a variety of automotive applications.

On Monday, August 28, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Patrick Witteler, a colleague from Salzgitter Flachstahl, accompanied by two customers from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. During the tour of the steelworks, the visitors were afforded the opportunity to observe the process at close quarters, from the melting of the steel scrap to secondary metallurgy and the continuous casting plant. Sascha Hoffmann, Head of Materials Technology, conducted the visitors' tour of the steelworks and provided detailed information about the production processes that take place. As with many of the previous guests, Mr. Hoffmann observed expressions of enthusiasm: "The dimensions and forces of steel production only become tangible and perceptible for each individual when experienced on site. For most people, these experiences can hardly be compared to anything else and leave a lasting impression."
